Education

North Fulton Hospital’s Versant RN Residency Program incorporates a comprehensive, evidence-based training model for the boarding of new graduate nurses.  

As a result of their participation in the program, nurses gain valuable experience, judgment, skills and confidence, which are all needed for them to navigate the complexities of hospital life.  Entering the professional world as novices, Residents quickly, safely, and efficiently progress to the competent level.

The program involves 18-weeks of both classroom training and:shadowing on the units through a process called looping.  Residents have preceptors assigned to them who ensure that they are ready to progress through the steps of the program.  Such a model provides for a broad education of what the hospital does for its patients and ensures that each nurse is comfortable with the newly learned skills.

Opportunity for Advancement

North Fulton Hospital encourages nurses to enhance both patient care and their own nursing skills through the Clinical Ladders program.  Nurses who choose to participate in this program select a project to pursue over the course of a year that focuses on a clinical area to be improved at the hospital.  Nurses research their topics, implement new policies, and develop educational training programs to help enhance their departments and the hospital as a whole.

As Clinical Laddering Nurses better the hospital, they also better themselves as clinical professionals.  As they advance through the various levels, nurses are eligible for additional pay increases.
