NFH Preps for Tour de Pink as Official Medical Sponsor—

Supports Young Survival Coalition of Atlanta

North Fulton Hospital presented a $5,000 check Monday to the Young Survival Coalition of Atlanta (YSC) to become the official medical sponsor of the YSC Tour de Pink Atlanta.  This monetary donation will complement the onsite medical coverage the hospital will provide for the October 1st bike ride event, which will take place in Alpharetta.

The YSC Tour de Pink is a chance to raise funds to ensure that no woman diagnosed under the age of 40 faces breast cancer alone. As Atlanta's only Bike Ride for Breast Cancer, there’s a place for everyone in the family, regardless of their fitness level.  Participants may choose from various courses, including a 5k, 20 miles, 40 miles, 62 miles, or 100 miles.  Non bike riders may also choose to walk.

The money raised will help YSC provide resources, connections, and outreach so women feel supported, empowered and hopeful right here in the metro area. Participants will be a part of the largest effort in the country dedicated exclusively to the needs of young survivors.

“This is an exciting time for the hospital,” said CEO Debbie Keel.  “An event like this has the potential to reach a lot of people in the community, so it gives us the chance to not only help with the noble efforts of YSC, but also share how North Fulton can be a partner in the cancer care process.”

North Fulton Hospital has been building and expanding its oncology program in recent years.  Lead by a multidisciplinary team of physicians and other clinicians, this program allows people the opportunity to receive cancer care without having to travel down to the city.  This convenience coupled with the expertise of those providing care and the technology available in the hospital makes for a great alternative for those in the north metro area.

“Through participation in events like Tour de Pink, North Fulton Hospital is taking a strong stand in the fight against breast cancer,” said Joanna Stotter, Marketing Coordinator with North Fulton Hospital.  “Our efforts will hopefully help to increase awareness and help women understand the importance of screenings and physician examinations.  Catching something like this early can make all the difference.”

North Fulton Hospital is proud to support organizations like the Young Survival Coalition of Atlanta.  For more information about the Tour de Pink, visit www.ysctourdepink.org
