Roswell, GA (February 1, 2012) – After several months of negotiations, Tenet Health System and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia reached an agreement late Tuesday afternoon just hours before the present contract was scheduled to end.
“We are extremely pleased that Tenet and BCBSGA were able to finalize an agreement before the February 1st deadline,” says Deborah C. Keel, chief executive officer at North Fulton Hospital. “The outcry from BCBSGA patients to have access to North Fulton Hospital and other Tenet facilities reiterated the importance of patient choice when it comes to medical care.”
The multi-year agreement with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia will allow patients who are covered by BCBSGA to continue to receive in-network care at Atlanta Medical Center, North Fulton Hospital, South Fulton Medical Center, Spalding Regional Medical Center and Sylvan Grove Hospital.
“Though these negotiations were difficult, the focus throughout remained on the patient and their ability to continue using community hospitals, like North Fulton Hospital, for their health care needs,” says Keel. “We remain committed to providing high-quality service and appreciate the patience of our physicians and patients during this process.”
