North Fulton Hospital Earns ‘Top Performer on Key Quality Measures’ Recognition from the Joint Commission
North Fulton Hospital today was named one of the nation’s top performers on key quality measures by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America. North Fulton Hospital was recognized by The Joint Commission based on data reported about evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions, including heart attack, heart failure pneumonia, children’s asthma and surgical care.
North Fulton Hospital is one of only 405 U.S. hospitals and critical access hospitals earning the distinction of top performers on key quality measures for attaining and sustaining aggregation of accountability measure performance. Inclusion on the list is based on aggregation of accountability measure data reported by The Joint Commission during the previous calendar year. North Fulton Hospital was recognized for achieving these thresholds for surgical care, heart attack and pneumonia. North Fulton Hospital was one of two facilities within Metro Atlanta receiving this top distinction. The second was Atlanta Medical Center.
“We understand that what matters most to patients is safe, effective care,” says Debbie Keel, Chief Executive Officer of North Fulton Hospital. “That’s why we’ve made a commitment to accreditation and to positive patient outcomes through evidenced-based processes. The physicians and staff at North Fulton Hospital are proud that our hospital was named to the list of The Joint Commission’s Top Performers on Key Quality Measures.”
To be recognized as a top performer on key quality measures an organization must meet two 95 percent performance thresholds. First, they must achieve a composite performance of 95 percent or above after the results of all accountability measures for which they report data to The Joint Commission were factored into a single score, including measures that had less than 30 eligible cases or patients. Second, they must meet or exceed a 95 percent performance target for every single accountability measure for which they report data, excluding any measure with less than 30 eligible cases or patients.
The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits and certifies over 19,000 health care organizations and programs in the United State. The Joint Commission is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organizations commitment to meeting certain performance expectations.
In addition to being included in The Joint Commission’s “Improving America’s Hospitals” annual report, North Fulton Hospital will be recognized on The Joint Commission’s Quality Check website, www.qualitycheck.org.
