North Fulton Hospital participated in the World Health Organization’s Global Hand Hygiene Initiative on May 5, 2010. The aim of the initiative is to reduce healthcare associated infections by targeting efforts on the importance of clean hands in healthcare.
Utilizing a Cinco de Mayo theme, the Quality Management Team set up displays in the cafeteria from 11am – 1pm on May 5th, educating the staff on the importance of hand hygiene and asking everyone to pledge to clean their hands and save lives. Employees enjoyed chips, salsa, and non-alcoholic margaritas as they were reminded of the importance of good hand hygiene.

One way employees were able to see exactly how clean their hands really were was through the use of Glo Germ and a black light. Making use of this method, the Quality Management Staff stressed this issue’s importance.
This hand hygiene initiative is but one issue North Fulton Hospital supports. Quality healthcare delivery is a priority at North Fulton Hospital, as evidenced by the various quality designations the hospital continues to accumulate.
