North Fulton Hospital recognized its first class of Versant graduates last Wednesday, January 20th, in a special recognition ceremony. These nurses successfully completed the 18-week residency program that consisted of both classroom and hands-on training throughout the various clinical departments of the hospital.
The nine nurses who successfully completed the program are:
-
Brett Holbert, Neuro Intensive Care Unit
-
Christine Ali, Critical Care
-
Lois Fairfield, Telemetry
-
Christine Congie, Telemetry
-
Amy Holaday, Cardiology
-
Katherine Greve, Surgical
-
Jessica Jenkins, Surgical
-
Hai Nguyen, OR
-
Angie Dunagan, OR
Each nurse had a preceptor assigned to him/her who helped to offer advice on how to navigate the program and the hospital in general. This one-on-one attention coupled with the broad hospital education helps to ease the transition between nursing school and hospital employment, better preparing our nurses to deliver exceptional care.
North Fulton Hospital will start another Residency on March 22 with 8 new graduates. During the 18-week program, the nurses will be exposed to the various areas of the hospital in addition to the unit for which they were hired. Through this process of “looping” they will shadow those in the ICU, in the Emergency Room, on the medical floor, etc., allowing for a broad education of what the hospital does for its patients. For questions about the Versant RN Residency Program, please call Lu Leeds at 770-751-2633.
