Hospital Makes Strides Against Breast Cancer

A team of North Fulton Regional Hospital employees gathered last Saturday, October 25th, for the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Atlantic Station.  This annual American Cancer Society event helps to spread awareness about breast cancer, to support important cancer research, and to provide those living with breast cancer valuable resources.

NFRH Oncology Coordinator Lori Hall captained the team of hospital employees.  “We’ve had many employees do this walk on their own, but we’ve never gotten together and actually formed a hospital team,” she explained.  “Even in the cold, we all had a great time.  It’s great to rally for such a great cause.”

With less than a year under her belt working at North Fulton Regional Hospital, Lori has already made some significant strides of her own.  Her efforts have helped to establish a more comprehensive cancer program at the hospital, largely due to her work with the physician tumor board.  As collaboration between the physician specialties increases, patients are better able to receive continuous, quality care from practitioners who all have the same goal: to beat the cancer.  When this is combined with Lori’s one-on-one patient focus, cancer patients at North Fulton Regional Hospital can expect a higher standard of care.

As North Fulton Regional Hospital’s Oncology Program grows, the hospital also hopes the size of the team will grow as well.  Lori and other members of the Making Strides 2009 walk team have already brainstormed ideas for 2010.  “We want to do it even better next year,” Lori said.  “We don’t just want people to know that North Fulton Regional Hospital stands up against breast cancer.  We want them to also know that we can take care of them in the event that cancer strikes them.”

North Fulton Regional Hospital is proud to support organizations in the community.  For more information about the developing Oncology Program at North Fulton Regional Hospital, please contact Lori hall at 770-751-2930 or visit www.northfultonregional.com/oncology.
