Dr. Laura Rivers Named Medical Director of NFH Breast Care Program
North Fulton Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Laura Rivers, Breast Surgeon, to the position of Medical Director of the North Fulton Hospital Breast Care Program. Dr. Rivers joins the comprehensive Breast Care Team that includes a nurse navigator/patient advocate, radiologists, general and reconstructive surgeons, radiation oncologists and medical oncologists.
Dr. Rivers is an experienced surgeon in the areas of minimally invasive breast biopsy, breast surgery, breast disease management, and oncoplasty. After completing her training and residency in general surgery, Dr. Rivers later followed with a fellowship in surgery and breast oncology. She provides breast surgery consultations and follow-up care following breast surgery and also manages breast problems that do not necessarily require surgery for both benign and malignant disease.
In addition to benefiting from Dr. Rivers’ leadership and expertise, NFH is also pleased to welcome Micah Brown, RN, as the Breast Navigator. Micah was most recently the Women’s Surgical Unit Clinical Supervisor at Northside Hospital. She brings a wealth of experience working with surgical oncology patients, specifically women, to our program as we seek accreditation as a Breast Cancer Center. She will be working with all women who undergo breast cancer diagnosis and treatment at North Fulton to help them navigate the system and pursue the care that suits them best.
We look forward to expanding on the high quality breast services already available at North Fulton Hospital. To refer a patient to the Breast Care Program, please contact Breast Navigator Micah Brown at 770-751-2556.
