Spring can often be seen as a time of birth; flowers bloom and the warm weather brings new life to those of us cooped up inside during the cold winter months. This past spring, North Fulton Regional Hospital and Harry’s Farmers Market recognized the need the community has for health information…thus, the Whole Body, Whole Health Seminar Series was born.
“Our shoppers always tell us that they want to become educated about their health and the options that are available to them,” said Jennifer Smeth, Marketing Team Leader for Harry’s Farmers Market and co-creator of the Whole Body, Whole Health series. “This series was created to meet these needs and help equip our community with the latest health information.”
With the success of the 2008 series, North Fulton Regional Hospital and Harry’s Farmers Market have set plans for an extension in 2009. The series will kick off January 22 with Your Labor of Love – Getting to know your natural birth options. Led by Dr. Hughan Frederick, a North Fulton Regional Hospital Obstetrician and Gynecologist, and Margaret Strickhouser, CNM, Your Labor of Love will feature information about water birth, labor balls and other options expecting mothers have for delivering their babies.
“Natural births are very popular, and many women are interested in water birth in particular,” said Angie Busch, Director of Women’s Health at North Fulton Regional Hospital. “We pride ourselves on being one of the only hospitals in the state performing water births.”
Other programs in the 2009 series will include Care for the Whole Heart in February, Nutrition 201 – Modeling for the Family in March and many others . Registration for any of these free seminars is required.
