Employees and Volunteers of North Fulton Regional Hospital gathered together last Friday evening to participate in the 2008 Roswell area Relay for Life at Centennial High School. As the Presenting Sponsor of the annual event for the American Cancer Society, the hospital fully embraced the ‘Rock and Roll Relay” theme.

“This event never fails to inspire,” said NFRH Admissions Manager and Relay co-captain Kathy Crossley. “We are honored to be a part of the mission to eradicate cancer and spread awareness about this disease that affects so many of us.”

This year the hospital did more than just write a check; it also did more than just walk around the track. Fully embracing the theme, employees and family members took time to bring rock and roll to the football field. There was even a full-sized Elvis with whom other walkers could have their picture made—for a donation of course.

At another tent, NFRH nurses and physical therapists provided screenings, allowing people to learn their blood pressure and grip strength and gain valuable health information. By the end of the evening, the hospital brought in an additional sum of money for the American Cancer Society in excess of $700.

North Fulton Regional Hospital Volunteer and Breast Cancer Survivor Pat Oxford was proud to participate in the event for another year. As the team leader for the NFRH Survivors, she played an integral role in spreading the word within the hospital.

“This year we doubled our survivor participation from the hospital,” she said. “We are definitely heading in the right direction!”
