North Fulton Regional Hospital announces the installation of a new angiography system, the AXIOM Artis dTA. The addition of the new system expands NFRH’s current angiography offering to include additional diagnostic and treatment procedures.
“With this new system, we are able to navigate through the blood vessels, figure out where the bleeding is occurring and stop it,” said Dr. Charles Sykes, a medical staff Radiologist at North Fulton Regional Hospital. “The curved, C-shape of the system allows us to take images from many different angles with only one injection for the patient, whereas before we could only take one static image per injection.”
Developed by Siemens Medical Solutions – one of the largest providers of medical technology in the world – the AXIOM Artis dTA is specially designed to combine the lowest possible radiation dose with the highest image quality. Radiation dosage is a critical care factor for angiographic procedures, which can be lengthy. In addition, the system offers enhanced imaging capabilities, allowing the physician to easily capture images from almost any angle. Better images lead to faster, more accurate diagnosis for patients.
Dr. Sykes, along with his partner Dr. Boyd Byrd, also stresses the increased safety of the AXIOM Artis dTA for employees due to the decrease in scatter radiation. The decrease in exposure results in lower occupational risks. A further benefit of the AXIOM system is its connectivity capabilities. The system allows information captured during procedures to quickly and easily be shared throughout the hospital system and with patients.
