North Fulton Hospitals Power of Pink Raises Over $19,000 for Komen Atlanta

Debbie Keel, Chief Executive Officer, and Lindsey Harber, Director of Business Development of North Fulton Hospital present a check to Kelly Dolan, Executive Director of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Greater Atlanta Affiliate for $19,773. The donation encompasses the proceeds of the Power of Pink, the breast cancer awareness luncheon hosted by NFH on Friday, September 23rd, 2011.

“To raise such a significant amount of money at an inaugural event is a point of pride for the hospital,” says Debbie Keel, Chief Executive Officer of NFH. “We could not have done it without our generous sponsors, the involvement of the community and the efforts of our Women’s Advisory Board.”

The event was held at the Country Cub of Roswell where attendees were treated to lunch and a fashion show where breast cancer survivors modeled fall clothing pieces from Dillard’s Department Store.

“We know the mortality rate for breast cancer in Fulton County is higher than the national average,” says Kelly Dolan, Executive Director of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Greater Atlanta Affiliate. “The proceeds from the Power of Pink lunch will enable Komen Atlanta to provide lifesaving breast cancer screening services to the women in the North Fulton Community to help improve outcomes.”

Seventy-five percent of all funds raised for Komen Atlanta stay in the area and go toward screenings, treatment and support programs. This money will go to help support the local efforts of Susan G. Komen, providing support to women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as to fund research to help find a cure.

The Power of Pink event kicked off the hospital’s month long breast cancer awareness campaign, Check-Up for Chicks. The goal of the campaign is to remind and encourage local women to get their annual screening mammograms. For more information, visit www.CheckUpforChicks.com.
