ACS Accepts Check from North Fulton Hopital
Joanna Stotter
Monday, 08 March 2010

The American Cancer Society (ACS)accepted a check for $5,000 from North Fulton Hospital today in support of the 2010 Roswell area Relay for Life.  This check will help to fund the ACS conducts in hopes of finding a cure for cancer.

North Fulton Hospital is proud to be an active supporter of the American Society.  Each year the hospital steps up as the presenting sponsor of this Roswell area Relay, donating money as well as man power to the effort.  Employees and volunteers hospital-wide gather with each other, their friends, and their family members to walk for loved ones affected by cancer.

While North Fulton Hospital has long been a supporter of the American Cancer Society, it is now proud to be a provider of comprehensive cancer services right here in Roswell.  Since the hospital hired an Oncology Coordinator in 2009 to act as a nurse navigator and patient advocate, the program has taken off.  Physicians from multiple specialties regularly meet for the Tumor Board, which is a forum for clinicians to collaborate on cancer cases, working together to decide upon appropriate treatment plans for each patient.

“This program is integrating all of the oncology services we already had here at the hospital in addition to some new services,” explains Lori Hall, NFH Oncology Coordinator.  “From digital mammography to advanced 3T MRI to PET CT scans, North Fulton Hospital is prepared to help people from diagnosis through treatment.”

This clinical expertise extends to both outpatient and inpatient cancer care.  Nurses who care for patients through the Oncology Program are all chemotherapy certified, participating in ongoing cancer education so that they may provide their patients with the latest information regarding cancer treatment.  This dedication is evident in the way NFH nurses deliver quality care  as well as sincere compassion.
