Rescue Air 1 lands on NFRH's new helipad
$7.2 million renovation significantly adds to NFRH’s Level II Trauma Center

Members of the media and selected community leaders were invited to tour the newly expanded and renovated Emergency Services Department at North Fulton Regional Hospital (NFRH). The $7.2 million expansion is part of a $50 million master renovation and construction plan for the hospital that will continue over the next 24 months.  Patients and families can now experience the newly expanded and renovated Emergency Services Department later this month.

Components of the expansion include:
• Addition of 10 exam and treatment rooms, bringing the total to 28
• Separate entrances for walk in patients and ambulances
• Open registration and triage area for improved patient flow
• Dedicated cardiac emergency room
• Trauma room for up to three patients
• Digital radiology in trauma room
• Electronic patient flow and tracking system
• Expanded close-in parking

One of the most significant features of the renovated Emergency Services Department is the advanced medical technology integrated throughout the design. From the patient registration system that electronically tracks patients throughout diagnosis and treatment, to the use of digital radiology that projects detailed images within seconds right in the trauma room, patients at North Fulton Regional Hospital’s emergency department will benefit from streamlined care.

The Emergency Services expansion project was a critical step in continuing the hospital’s commitment to the North Fulton community as a Level II trauma center, a designation it initially earned in 1987 and has steadily maintained since. NFRH is one of only four metro Atlanta hospitals designated as an adult trauma center by the Georgia Division of Public Health.

“The importance of a Level II Trauma Center serving the North Fulton community shouldn’t be overlooked,” explained David Anderson, Interim President and CEO. “Minutes matter in an emergency, especially with a traumatic injury or accident. North Fulton Regional Hospital is equipped with the technology and specialists available 24/7 to handle injuries as diverse as multiple fractures to spine and brain injuries.” This level of capabilities is also important to the community for non-emergent needs. “Specialists treating our trauma patients with life-threatening injuries are also here to care for individuals coming to the hospital as outpatients or as scheduled inpatients,” Anderson adds.

North Fulton Regional Hospital (NFRH), part of Tenet Georgia, is a 167-bed, acute-care hospital located on Highway 9, Alpharetta Highway, in Roswell. Opened in 1983, NFRH serves North Fulton and surrounding counties through its team of over 1000 employees, 450 staff physicians and 250 volunteers. NFRH is a state-designated Level II trauma center and provides a continuum of services through its centers and programs, including neurosciences, orthopedics, rehabilitation, surgical services, bariatric surgical weight loss, gastroenterology and oncology. The hospital is fully accredited and also is certified as a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the nation’s oldest and largest hospital accreditation agency.
